Cliodhna qualified as a veterinary nurse in 1997, through the Royal College
of Veterinary Surgeons, London having completed her training in the
Veterinary College, UCD.
After qualifying Cliodhna worked in the Animal Welfare Clinic, Charlemont Street,
Dublin 2 before heading off to Australia for four years. While in Australia
Cliodhna worked in veterinary practices in Bondi Junction and Surry Hills, Sydney,
during which time she completed a course on Small Animal Nutrition run by Hills
Science Plan. Before returning home in 2002 Cliodhna spent some time in an animal
sanctuary just outside Sydney helping with the native animals.
Cliodhna resumed work in Terenure Veterinary Hospital in Terenure, Dublin 12,
where she worked for over three years. During this time she was nominated for
Veterinary Nurse of the Year, 2005.
After a good deal of searching to find a suitable site, Cliodhna and her husband
Joe moved into Martinstown Cottage in the beginning of 2006. Cliodhna worked
in Kildare Veterinary Hospital while the planning stage of the cattery was completed.
Cliodhna finally realised her lifelong dream when Martinstown Cattery
opened for guests at end of 2006.
